New week! New work!

Spent the weekend at my parents place getting burned while sitting in the pool. Which is fun. It will probably be the last time this year we will be able to get away with that. I may post some pictures of the girls playing around.
For now, here is the last of the big Mad Scientist things that were done for this year.
Toxic Floor Cling! Put it at the front entrance for unwanted guests.

And here is the original rough for it.

I really hope to have some new work in my sketchbook soon to share. I just haven’t had time to crack it open.
I also really hope to have time to work on some Portraits soon.
Not sure when I will post again. Talk to you soon though.
Have a good one.

Come in, Come in!

Click on image for a larger version. Door curtain to go with the Mad Scientist kit below. Top is made of cardboard and the bottom of vinyl. The pink line down the center is where it is split for you and your guests to walk through.
Below is the first sketch for it. Also a photo of the final product. It was fun to work on.

I really want to get to my sketch book again soon. Also would like to get back to the Portraits of the girls.
I’ll post again when I can.

Have a good one.

Mad Scientist for your Party

Click image for larger view.  All images and product are © Oriental Trading
This is my Mad Scientist Design-A-Room set from work. The background is 30 foot long and the elements come on sheets 6 foot tall. As shown below they come broken down so you can place things where you would like them. I’ve done about 5 of these jobs now and they are very fun to do. Very time consuming.  It’s all done in photoshop. No perspective or strong light source because all the elements come in many pieces. So things look off, but I don’t think they look that off. I hope they are not that off.

These are the elements. There are 4 sheets in two packs. Each sheet is a 3 foot x 6 foot clear plastic sheet that you cut up and place on the walls where you would like.

The layout for the packaging is my doing as well. I developed the layout and the feel of what our Design-A-Room product would look like on the shelves. I’m pleased with the way they came out, and think they look great in a store. I hope more places will start to carry them.

Here is the background

And to give you a feeling for the sizes of these jobs here is my buddy Eric standing with the set upon a wall.

Hope you dig them.  You can find them here if you are interested in using them this fall. They make the party really fun.
I’ll have more for you in a bit.
Have a good one.

And I’m back.

California was great. Amy and I had a blast. Weather was awesome. Went to a Giants game. Bought a lot of wine.
Walked around San Fransisco. It couldn’t have been better.
Here we are at Six Flags. Thanks to Jake and Jenny for putting up with us.

I hope they have a smooth ride back.

Some sketches while on break.

I will have some new work for you this weekend or next week. The catalogs are  out.
I just have to find the time.

Done

My apologies to the guys in this sketchbook posting. They all look close, but non of them really look like who they are supposed to look like. That said, I enjoyed working on it.

I really can’t wait for this weekend. Amy and i are finally going out west for about 4+ days.
I really want to get the hell out of Dodge.
Away from Omaha.
Away from the job.
Away from all the other day to day crap that goes on.
I just need a break.

When I do get back I’ll share some photos, sketchbook pages, and some new jobs.
Till then,

Latest Portrait

I’m pleased with this one. I’ve known this guy a long time and I feel like I have done him right.
I finished him about a week ago but just got around to handing it off to him. He was happy with it so that’s good. Click on it for a larger version.

It was probably the longest working time I’ve spent on a Portrait. The background was a pain. A good pain, but a pain. It’s 16×20. Marker, Water color, and Colored pencil. Little bit of ink here and there as well.
Couple of work in progress shots.

I’ve started another one of the girls that I’m really excited to work on. I just need the time. That one should go smooth. I will also have more work to share soon as well. The fall books are close to dropping and I have a lot of stuff that was fun to work on featured in them.
With any luck I will also have my resume up at last. That has been on my to do list for some time.
Never know when you will be needing that.

Talk to you soon.

I can’t wait for November

I just want November to get here so we can really start to focus on the future.
What will the next 4 years going to bring?

I hope to have more soon for you. Amy and I leave for California on the 8th. I’ll bring my book with me and work in it when I can.
I’m looking forward to that a lot.
